Weddings in the garden · Madison, GA

Ashby Hall

A historic Southern house, formal gardens and a lawn under the magnolias. One celebration at a time, up to 150 guests.

I

Some places are made for one afternoon you will talk about for the rest of your life. This is one of them.

A white house with a wraparound porch and a wide green lawn.
The main house, from the south lawn

A house with a long memory.

The house at Ashby Hall was built for a cotton merchant's family and has hosted weddings, christenings and Sunday dinners ever since. The rooms keep their heart pine floors, their tall windows and the staircase every bride ends up photographed on.

Outside, boxwood paths lead from the porch to the magnolia garden, then down to the south lawn. We restored the gardens over ten years, one bed at a time, so that spring and fall both have something in bloom.

A day-of coordinator

Your coordinator meets your vendors, runs the timeline and lines up the processional, so you never look at a clock.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do we have to use your caterer?

We work with a short list of four caterers who know the kitchen and the timing of the house. Each offers seated dinners, family style and stations, with menus for every budget.

How is alcohol served?

Your caterer's licensed bar team serves it. You can buy your own wine and champagne; spirits come through the caterer's bar package.

What happens if the weather turns?

Your coordinator makes the call with you the morning of the wedding. The ceremony moves to the porch and the parlor, and the tent gets its side walls. Both are set up the same day.

Where do our guests stay?

There are two inns and several bed and breakfasts nearby, in and around Madison. We hold a room block for you at one of them and share a list of local options.

Can you recommend vendors?

Yes. Your coordinator shares florists, photographers, musicians and planners who have worked at the estate. Outside vendors are welcome with proof of insurance.

How far ahead should we book?

Spring and fall Saturdays usually book twelve to eighteen months ahead. Fridays, Sundays and winter dates are often available sooner.
